Alizée (winds) in WonderlandLANDSCAPE PROJECT
Extraordinary climatic and geologic phenomenon revealed through colour / Lanzarote, Spain
The wind is a constant in Lanzarote island. Its streams have modelled the landscape and architectures that dwell in the island. The territory morphology is the trace of its past history, static pyroclastic flows, petrified soils, paused fire… However, like a spine that separates volcanic land in two sides, an area called Jable (an area of sands and plantations with a lower topography) acts like a wind tunnel.
The most peculiar phenomenon in this area is the sand journey through this tunnel till the southern area of the island, where, close to the sea, it is driven to the northern zone of the neighbour island of Fuerteventura.
The project, by means of depositing chromatically different type of sands, wants to make explicit “the exchange of territory” that is produced in a natural way between the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
